PARID Position
Responsibilities
President
Duties
· Preside during all PARID board and general membership meetings
· Respond to all mail, email, and telephone correspondence in a timely manner
· Submit articles to the PARID News quarterly
· Represent PARID in all activities (meetings, conferences, events) except those expressly prohibited by law, or by the By-Laws
· Appoint members to committees
· The President shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors
· Co-sign all PARID checks except those expressly prohibited by law, or by the By-Laws
·
Provide annual reports to the membership,
including all district chapters and
· Participate in the RID Region I President’s Council
· Participate in the RID Affiliate Chapter President’s list-serve
· Provide annual reports to the RID Region I Representative and the RID National Office as prescribed in the affiliation requirements
Vice President
Duties
· Attend all PARID board and general membership meetings
· Submit Vice President’s reports to the PARID board in preparation for each board meeting and general membership meeting
· Submit PARID News articles, as the need arises. (i.e. updates on projects or duties being performed at the request of the Board)
· In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform all duties of the President and in so acting shall have all the powers of the President.
· The Vice President shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Treasurer
PARID
Board Meeting Duties
· Attend all PARID board and general membership meetings or send a representative
· Submit treasurer’s reports to the PARID board in preparation for each board meeting and annual membership meeting
· Actively participate in the fundraising committee. May join other PARID committees as well.
Membership
Duties
· Receive all membership forms
· Process memberships
· Update and maintain a directory of current membership
District
Duties
· Keep a current list of district chapter treasurers and/or membership secretaries
· Send membership forms and dues to the district chapters
· Keep track of any monies in the treasury reserved for districts with no formal chapter
Treasury
Duties
· Maintain accurate records of checking account, savings account, and petty cash
· Pay any bills or reimbursements the organization has incurred after receiving approval by the president if necessary.
· Develop fundraising ideas
· Submit treasurer’s reports for the quarterly newsletter
· Prepare a budget
· Check and answer email frequently
Recording Secretary
Responsibilities
of the Recording Secretary
· Attend all PARID board and general membership meetings or send a representative.
· Remind board members and liaisons to submit their reports electronically to the yahoo group prior to board meetings. If this is not possible, the reports should be sent to the recording secretary prior to the meeting via email.
· Act as the board liaison to at least one PARID committee.
· Maintain an up-to-date list of contact information for board members and liaisons. This list is to be published on the Yahoo group site.
· Compile a running list of the motions passed during your term of office. A running list for the current year should be composed in a separate file.
· Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
at Board Meetings
· Supply motion forms to board members for each meeting.
· Draft a sign-in sheet for attendance of the meeting.
· Take minutes during the board meeting. The minutes should be compiled using the template supplied.
· The minutes should contain the following: attendance; reports from: president, vice president, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, committees, board liaisons; motions made; unfinished and new business; upcoming meeting dates and locations; and announcements.
· Minutes should be sent to the president within two weeks of the conclusion of the meeting. Upon receiving approval from the president, the recording secretary will post the notes to the yahoo group and send an announcement to all board members alerting them of this posting
Responsibilities at General Meeting/Annual Workshops
· The recording secretary is expected to attend the annual general meeting.
The Recording secretary’s primary responsibility during this event is to take accurate minutes.
Corresponding Secretary
PARID Board Meeting Duties
· Attend all PARID board and general membership meetings or send a representative.
· Submit a corresponding secretary report to the PARID board in preparation for each board meeting and general membership meeting.
· Act as the board liaison to at least one PARID committee.
· Send communications on behalf of the organization as directed by the PARID Board.
· Keep a running file of communications and correspondence sent and received on behalf of the organization.
· Prior to each board meeting, send correspondence to invite board liaisons to the upcoming board meetings.
Membership Duties
· Receive and process all membership forms.
· Update and maintain a directory of current membership.
· Forward the current membership list to the president, CMP coordinator, SWAP coordinator, newsletter editor, and local chapter membership coordinators.
District Duties
· Keep a current list of local chapter treasurers and/or membership coordinators.
· Send membership rolls to the local chapter membership coordinators.
· Send dues membership dues to the PARID treasurer.
Secretary Duties
· Submit corresponding secretary reports for the quarterly newsletter.
· Check and answer email and postal mail frequently.
· Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities at General Meeting/Annual Workshops
· Provide a current list of membership to the conference/workshop planning committee.
· Provide voting cards for the annual meeting.
·
Oversee the credentials table prior to the
general membership meeting.
·
Ensure that individuals are available to
count votes during the annual meeting.
District Representative
PARID Board Meeting Duties
· Attend all PARID board and general membership meetings or send a representative.
· Submit written district reports to the PARID board in preparation for each board meeting and the general membership meeting
· Provide a presentation at the general membership meeting on district activities
· Host a general membership meeting and/or a conference as appropriate
· Actively participate in one or more PARID committees
District Meeting Duties
· Ensure that district chapter meetings occur at least quarterly
· Document and distribute minutes of district chapter meetings and newsletters to PARID members within the district and to the PARID board
· Bring PARID board news/concerns to members in the district
District Activity Duties
· Assess the needs of the district, developing short-term and long-term goals
· Conduct district activities as appropriate
· Provide a safe and comfortable environment that is supportive of seasoned, experienced, and novice interpreters / PARID members
· Coordinate workshops/presentations relevant to the needs of district members, with financial assistance and approval from the PARID board
District Representation Duties
· Act as a contact person for the designated PARID district
· Outreach to interpreters in the district who are currently not members of PARID
· If a PARID chapter does not exist in the district, make efforts annually to establish one
· Submit regular articles to the PARID newsletter
· Maintain a directory of local membership
· Actively promote PARID, RID, and the local district chapter by attending local functions, including public forums relating to the Deaf community and interpreting issues
Newsletter Editor
· Publish a quarterly newsletter
· Collect articles from Board Officers and District Reps to include in newsletter
· Collect workshop and conference announcements to include in newsletter
· Periodically publish membership forms for PARID, RID, PSAD in newsletter
· Include various articles from members or officers if requested by Board
· Include your own articles, if you want to, and write short “blurbs” as needed
· Proof-read submitted articles for errors, edit as necessary, and if more then grammar or typo changes are made, review changes with the original author before publishing
· Consult with Board before including anything that may be controversial or before spending more funds then is usual or customary
· Shop around for economical printing solution
· Submit the PARID reimbursement form, with receipts, for expense reimbursement
CMP Coordinator
CMP Coordinator Responsibilities
· Adhere to the Standards and Criteria for RID Approved Sponsors handbook (current edition) and the RID CMP/ACET Sponsor Instruction Packet (current edition).
· Maintain accurate and complete records for auditing purposes.
· Forward money received for CEU processing payments to the PARID treasurer with a written explanation of the funds.
· Complete and submit the appropriate PARID reimbursement form and receipts for CMP expenses.
· Submit a quarterly report to the PARID president summarizing the CMP Activities.
· Submit articles to the PARID News as the need arises.
· Other CMP Coordinator duties as assigned by the PARID Board of Directors.
Sponsoring RID CEUs
· The guiding documents for the CMP Sponsor are the Standards and Criteria for RID Approved Sponsors handbook (current edition) and the RID CMP/ACET Sponsor Instruction Packet (current edition).
· PARID is an approved sponsor by the RID CMP to sponsor CEUs for Workshops, PINRAs, academic coursework, and Independent Studies.
· PARID only sponsors Independent Study activities for the mentors and mentees in the PARID Mentorship program.
Forms
· Individuals/organizations will obtain forms for activities (Sponsor/Instructor forms; PINRA; Academic Coursework) from the CMP Sponsor.
1. Sponsor/Instructor forms are used for approved workshops and conferences.
2. PINRA forms are used for activities that are not already offered for CEUs by an RID approved sponsor.
3. Academic Coursework forms are used for taking classes at accredited colleges and universities.
4. Independent Study forms are used for independent studies.
Fees
· CEU processing is free for PARID members, local chapters of PARID, and the following organizations/agencies: PA-ASLTA, PaTTAN,
· For any non-PARID member who wants PARID to process CEUs, the fee is $10 per item. This fee is due at the time of the request, made payable to PARID. If the request is denied, the fee will be returned.
· Independent study CEU processing for the PARID Mentorship Program is free for PARID members who are active mentors or mentees.
SWAP Coordinator
SWAP Coordinator
Responsibilities:
· Store the CD-Roms.
· Send the CD-Rom to requesting members.
· Maintain accurate and detailed records of materials borrowed.
· Submit payments and completed CEU paperwork to the PARID treasurer for processing.
· Submit a list a quarterly report to the PARID president summarizing the SWAP activities.
· Submit articles to the PARID News as needed.
· Other SWAP related duties as assigned by the PARID Board of Directors.
Procedures:
1. A PARID member submits the form and payment to borrow a CD-Rom to the SWAP Coordinator. The forms are on the PARID website (www.parid.org).
2. The SWAP coordinator sends the CD-Rom, along with a cover letter, RID evaluation form, a self addressed stamped envelope, and the post-test print page from Signs of Development to the member.
3. The SWAP Coordinator records who has which CD, the date sent, and the expected return date.
4. The SWAP Coordinator forwards the member’s check to the PARID treasurer.
5. The member returns the CD-Rom and relevant paperwork to the SWAP Coordinator.
6. The SWAP Coordinator forwards the paperwork to the PARID treasurer requesting the treasurer to send all of the paperwork and a PARID check to Signs of Development for CEU processing.
